Regarding the succession of Sri Chaitanya Saraswat Math India

Following the unexpected departure of Srimad Bhakti Nirmal Acharya Maharaj on 10 May, our worldwide mission was thrown into sadness and separation. Additionally, there has been much confusion because, having left so suddenly, Srila Acharya Maharaj did not leave a formal will.

Numerous devotees, however, have confirmed that Srila Acharya Maharaj was training his disciple Sripad Bhakti Tilak Nriho Maharaj as his successor, and Srila Acharya Maharaj also explicitly stated this intention on many occasions. Furthermore, all who know Niriha Maharaj clearly and practically see his chastity, purity of heart and sincere desire to serve.

It has therefore been decided by our worldwide leaders that while Sripad Nriho Maharaj will not immediately begin acting in the capacity of an initiating Guru, he will at present take the role of the president of our Indian Mission. Although Sripad Niriha Maharaj is still young our leaders feel that with the support and blessings of all the Vaishnavas he can become a bright shining light in our Mission.

As our beloved Gurudev Srila B.S. Govinda Deva-Goswami used to emphasize, “We are living in the faithful plane.” Although some may fixate upon the fact that Srila Acharya Maharaj did not leave a formal will, this is irrelevant to those who are faithful.

Another expression of our Gurudev also comes to mind: “We are practising Krishna consciousness, or we came to practise Krishna consciousness, not for any mundane benefit. Where we shall see the real light of Krishna consciousness we must really pay obeisances there.”

So we pray that all the faithful Eastern and Western Vaishnavas will give their support and backing to Sripad Bhakti Tilak Niriha Maharaj so that he can become what Srila Acharya Maharaj desired of him.

Regarding this matter I am sharing here a copy of the resolution which was drawn up by our Indian leaders and supported by international leaders within the mission:
